Game Description
Prince of Persia was released in 1989 and developed by Jordan Mechner. It is a critically acclaimed action-adventure platformer. With its fluid animation, precise controls and engaging sword-fighting mechanics, this classic game transformed the platforming genre. To save the the kidnapped Princess from the evil Vizier, Jaffar, players take the role of the Prince who must battle guards and race against time. Through rotoscope animation, realistic character movement was achieved for which the game is known for.
While solving complex puzzles in a series of dungeon-like levels, players must master jumping, climbing, running and sword combat. The intensity and excitement is enhanced because of time-based challenge of the game and to complete the quest, the Prince has only 60 minutes. There are many sequels of Prince of Persia such as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time which define time-manipulation and parkour-style movement. Among retro gaming fans, the franchise remains a beloved.
